Battle-Tested: Omlet Topology Dog Beds

Monte’s Verdict 🐾: [THE CUT]

Finding a setup that genuinely complements your home decor while delivering the whole functional package – from effortlessly removable covers to hidden, chew-proof zippers, usually means looking past the standard pet store aisles.

When Monte was a puppy, I was cautioned not to invest in expensive beds until he had gone through his teething phase. Looking back, that was incredibly valuable advice. Granted, my budget-friendly beds were true workhorses, but they rarely added anything positive to a room’s aesthetic. I couldn’t wait for Monte’s urge to nibble on his beds to subside. Once we were finally at the tail end of his teething phase, I started searching for a premium option in the hope it would blend into my home. The Omlet bed completely exceeded my expectations – it didn’t just blend in, it actually complemented the space.

This setup has firmly remained my all-time favourite. I value customisation and versatility, and the Omlet system delivers both seamlessly.

Living in a tri-level home means having a dedicated, cosy spot for Monte on every floor is a practical necessity. Once I saw how much he enjoyed it, I bought a second base and extended my collection of toppers, which are now in constant rotation. I customised one base with sleek metal legs to match my studio, and chose warm wooden legs for the other to blend beautifully into our main living space.

The craftsmanship across the board is exceptional. The fabric is heavy-duty and robust without losing its texture, and it hasn’t frayed a single thread, even with two curious cats in the house. It is a true example of getting exactly what you pay for when investing in high-quality items.

The Engineering Standout: The Zipper & Inlet System

The real triumph of this bed, and what makes the design genuinely brilliant, is the exceptionally clever engineering underneath the surface. Omlet designed a hidden track system to swap the interchangeable toppers that completely bypasses the usual pet bed frustrations.

  • Fully Hidden Track: When a topper is zipped onto the main fabric base, the entire heavy-duty plastic and metal zipper line is fully hidden beneath a thick fabric overhang. The flap lays completely flat, hiding all the pull tabs entirely out of sight. It means Monte has never had any funny ideas about trying to nibble on the metal mechanisms.
  • Effortless Cleaning: When it comes to cleaning, the design makes maintenance incredibly straightforward. The covers come apart completely, allowing you to quickly wash the outer fabric without dealing with any bulky inner stuffing, which speeds up drying time significantly.
  • Smart Removable Inlets: On the yellow beanbag topper, the underside unzips to reveal a separate white fabric bag that contains the loose beans, allowing it to slide out as one neat piece. The exact same brilliant logic applies to the bolster topper, which unzips completely from the bottom so the structured, protective white-lined foam inserts can just slide right out before the outer casing goes into the wash.

Even all these years later, they still look brand new. Rotating the toppers frequently has helped to keep them in great shape.

I was lucky enough to score a second raised bolster edge topper as-new on FB Marketplace, which opened up a brilliant household hack.

When a topper isn’t being used on one of the main raised bed frames, I place it directly onto our lounge cushions. It creates an instant, dedicated nesting zone for Monte right on the sofa, serving as a clever couch protector while giving him his own personal retreat every evening.

The Bottom Line

If you are not keen on pet beds looking like an eyesore and want an investment piece that offers genuine longevity, versatility, and practical everyday styling, the Omlet Topology is a standout winner.

A quick note for Aussie pet parents: To my absolute shock, I have recently discovered that Omlet has officially discontinued their entire dog range in Australia to focus exclusively on their chicken and cat products. It feels like an incredible loss, as I genuinely fail to understand how a product with such clever design and exceptional brand quality could be pulled from the market, and I haven’t found an equivalent concept since. However, if you can track one down secondhand on places like Facebook Marketplace – especially if you can snag a spare bolster topper to try out the couch hack, it is absolutely worth the hunt.
